Brookline Youth Hockey is the home of community-based youth hockey for families in Brookline, MA, and surrounding communities.
We offer two Learn-to-Play Programs, as well as Travel Hockey.
Brookline Learn-to-Play
From December to March we offer a Learn-to-Play Program that meets three times per week at our beautiful outdoor Jack Kirrane Rink and the nearby indoor rink at Roxbury Latin School. After one season of Learn-to-Play, players are typically ready to transition to travel hockey!
Bruins Learn-to-Play Partnership
For players who are completely new to hockey, a great way to on-ramp is through our partnership with the Boston Bruins Learn-to-Play Program at Warrior Ice Arena. Players receive full gear that is theirs to keep, as well as 4 instructional lessons, with a fall session for all players and a spring girls-only session. Players typically follow this with the Brookline Learn-to-Play program (see above).
Travel Hockey
Our current 2023-2024 travel program is home to 13 full-season teams, ranging in age from Mites (ages 7&8), Squirts (ages 9&10), Peewees (ages 11&12), Girls U12 (ages 11&12), Girls U14 (ages 13&14), and Bantams (ages 13&14), with a season that runs from September through March. We also run 2 half-season teams (Girls U18 and Midgets) for high-school players , with a season that runs from September through the hand-off to high-school hockey at Thanksgiving.
Travel players should expect 2 team practices, one skills session offered by a professional skills provider, and 1 or 2 games per week. We also offer goalie clinics at no extra charge. We encourage players to be multi-sport athletes and to pursue other activities.
Evaluations for Travel Hockey:
We attempt to roster every player. Spring evaluations are necessary because we offer multiple teams at each level. All players must register for these tryouts in advance. The non-refundable tryout fee is applied towards the season tuition.
A note about our website:
We are in the process of transitioning to a new website, which we expect to launch in late Spring 2024. We are making this simplified website available to provide a description of our programs, contact information, and information for registration for our tryouts.
