Hockey Equipment
Required Equipment Checklist
Full hockey equipment is mandatory for all BYH programs
- Helmet: Must be a hockey-specific helmet with a full-face cage
- Skates: Proper ice hockey skates (make sure they are sharpened)
- Neck Guard: Required for safety and protection
- Jock or Jill: Athletic supporter shorts (preferably with Velcro tabs to hold up hockey socks)
- Shin Guards: Worn under the socks
- Hockey Socks: Worn over the shin pads and secured to the Jock/Jill Velcro
- Hockey Pants: Padded shorts for hip and thigh protection
- Elbow Pads: Ensure a snug fit to prevent sliding
- Shoulder Pads: Should provide full chest and back coverage
- Gloves: Hockey-specific gloves for grip and protection
- Hockey Stick: Sized correctly for the player's height
If you need to buy new gear, we encourage you to buy a navy blue helmet to match the BYH travel team and Brookline High School colors. Additionally, navy blue pants and navy blue gloves are preferred but not required.

While BYH is not affiliated with any specific stores, our members frequently visit the following local vendors for equipment and sizing help:
