BYH Learn To Play
Our Learn-to-Play program builds the foundation for future Warriors by focusing on core individual skills and, most importantly, fostering a lifelong love for the game.
Program Highlights
- Skill-First Development: We focus on the fundamentals: skating, puck control, shooting, and passing.
- Engaging Format: Following the USA Hockey ADM station-based format, we use fast-moving, small-area games to keep development fun and engaging.
- Fun-Centric Atmosphere: Our primary goal is to ensure every player has a great time while learning the greatest sport on earth!
Participation Requirements
- Skating Ability: Only basic skating skills are required.
- Independence: For safety and flow, players should be able to move between stations on the ice without adult assistance.

A: For a complete overview of equipment requirements, please refer to our hockey equiptmetn checklist below.
Q: Who is eligible for the instructional programs?
A: Our programs are open to all players aged 4–10 years old, regardless of where you live or attend school. If your child is outside this age range but interested in joining, please contact us for an exception before registering.
Q: Does my child need to know how to skate?
A: Players must be able to move across the ice without adult assistance. Brookline Youth Hockey does not offer a Learn-to-Skate program. If your player cannot yet skate independently, we recommend enrolling in a local Learn-to-Skate program (such as those at Warrior Ice Arena) before joining BYH.
